Bring your Tudors topic to life with this workshop all about the Mary Rose. Learn about how it revolutionised ship building at the start of the 16th century and how it was constructed primarily for war.
Your class will have the opportunity to explore a reconstructed version of the Mary Rose. They’ll start on the upper decks and make their way down to the gun room.
Your pupils will also learn about daily life for those on board the Mary rose. From the sailors scrubbing the decks to the chefs responsible for feeding over 400 men.
After learning all about the Mary Rose, your pupils will be introduced to some of the ideas about why it might have sunk 35 years later. Following on from this workshop, your pupils can write their own diary entry from the viewpoint of a survivor on board the Mary Rose.
